The expression pedal is good for adjusting the sound of a patch, being able to adjust pre and post volume/gain/effect level and a variety of other characteristics. The effects are very good you can use delay/reverb/amp and mic modelling/pickup simulator/compressor/eq and AN effect at one time - but if you want multiple effects (chorus AND flange for instance) at the same time you cant.
It's a HUGE help, I'm still happy with it for the pricerange.I have a strat and a les paul the sound is very different through the different pickups, if you want big distortion it is there but you need humbuckers to get a really strong sound - even so it's not a dedicated distortion pedal so mega heavy deathheads might be dissapointed - nothing to stop you putting a stompbox between the guitar and the pedal though. Somehow I actually thought that within the last 6 years I've been hibernating that Digi-Tech had figured out PATCH LEVELS SHOULD BE EQUALED(or at least close). What do you hate? Is it noisy? On what settings? I found it to be exceptionally quiet on ALL patches.

I use a USA Strat Plus (3 singles-Lace sensor), line out of RPx400 to ANY sterio and use the sterios' headphones out(see below). what guitars and amps) are you using this with?
